This is a fantastic way to see a lot of Southern Morocco in just a few days. It's a tour from Marrakech through the Atlas Mountains, to Ait Benhaddou, through the Zagora and then to quiet desert. Our hikes are organised in a spirit of friendly encounters with the Berber population: You will be living on a daily basis with our team that is prepared to share with you their knowledge of the region and its traditions and their experience of organising your hike. The presence of the dromedaries makes it an unforgettable experience. They will carry your language and all the logistics (tents, food) to ensure a smooth and easy yet active holiday. Our team will assure your evening entertainment around the fire singing Berber songs. You will be eating traditional bread baked in the sand. A change of scene is guaranteed.
We will let you discover these treks on your own; as our camel drivers say: the desert has to be experienced not talked about.

Full Itinerary (4 Days hike):
Day
1: Marrakech -
Faïja (6h00 drive from
Marrakech).
Early
morning drive to south of the High Atlas by the Tizi n'Tichka pass
(2260m). We
pass Ouarzazate and drive along the Draa river valley till Zagora, the
capital
of the fortified villages. We then take a road which lead us into the
desert of
the Faija plateau and oasis where we camp / Bivouac.
Day
2: Faïja plateau – Well of Diabe (4h30mn).
We meet our
caravan team and start trekking south ascending to the Oum Laachar
pass. We use
camels /dromedaries for carrying all our luggage, equipment, kitchen,
food and
a reserve of water.
Our picnic
lunch will be under a big tree of Acacias.
After
midday, 1h30mn walk will take it to become to a fantastic and quite
area to
have our second night near a big well with fresh water.
Day 3:
Well of Diabe - Oued Mhasser – plateau of Nomads(5h30).
We walk
down along the Oued Mhasser.
During this
day we will see some small dunes. Picnic in small oases.
After about 5h30 hiking we camp around a big plateau.
Tea time in
Nomad house.
Day 4: plateau of Nomads -Chegaga dunes (6h30).
We follow a
stony valley which then opens in a vast plateau. Sometimes we see
mirages due
to the heat of the sun on the earth. We may encounter here gazelles,
rabbits,
squirrels and lizards. In some time we will see the great Chegaga dunes
where
we will camp by mid afternoon. During this season the daily temperature
ranges
the 20-25ºC and 10-15ºC at night.
Our campsite which has a well is normally populated with nomads and
their
cattle.
Before diner we will stroll on the high dunes and leave our trail along
their
cornices, before admiring a spectacular sunset on the distant horizon.
Day 5: Chegaga
dunes – Bougarn dunes (5h).
Before
departing our personnel will fill the water containers because this
will be a
dry leg and our next camp has no water. We leave the populated area and
will
walk through the desert in a great silence that invites to meditation.
We pause at midday to avoid the sun's intensity under any vegetation
that we
can find. By mid afternoon we stop to camp in a magnificent environment
of
desert dunes at Bougarn dunes. At the end of the day you may try riding
a camel
n the dunes.
Day 6:
Bougarn dunes – Mhamid – Ouarzazate / Marrakech.
This
morning is special: we will have our breakfast around 4am. Our
transfer
4x4 will be waiting for drive us to Mhamid village, the last big
village before
the Algerian borders.
It will be
another experience to test driving on the dunes.
About
1h30mn our nice bus is waiting to transfer us to Marrakech (6h30),
passing
through Zagora and Ouarzazate.
